The Eco-Efficient Driver (Bi-Polar) Assessment System

This is a new positive driver assessment system; researched, devised, tested, and approved by Professor Peter Russell of the Driver Education Research Foundation (DERF) over a period of years.

The drivers’ knowledge, understanding, and skill will be measured against the system thus recognises the individual ability of drivers with a broad spectrum of factual benefits. The on-road assessment will last between seventy-five and ninety minutes, the majority of which is practical including a theory element at the end. It will not abstract drivers from their daily duties. On successful conclusion, should the driver meet a particular standard, they will receive a unique Certificate of Professional Competence (C. P. C.) lasting between two and five years.

Professor Russell has been tried and tested in the commercial world of fleet and corporate driver training for over 15 years and has proved successful, not only in reducing fuel costs by at least 15%, but in reducing road collisions by up to 60%. The potential savings to businesses responsible for employees who use or drive cars and light-vans in connection with their business can be enormous.

Research

Professor Peter Russell, also the Director of the Driver Education Research Foundation (D. E. R. F.), has a proven track record and a mass of invaluable experience in forming companies within the driving industry that have progressed to become well established, reputable, and highly successful entities, and the researching of all matters relating to the driver and driving.

Professor Peter Russell has been a member of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) for thirty years and leads a success hungry team of dedicated and committed researchers.

D. E. R. F. was established in 2001 and officially launched, in March 2004 at the House of Lords.

The first commercial research programme conducted by the DERF was research into the safety aspects of dual-controlled vehicles used on driving tests
and on professional driving lessons.
